EID MUBARAK TO ALL THE MUSLIMS ALL OVER THE WORLD!
When car makers don’t have anything truly new to offer, they often make special editions. Such is the case right now with Saab. General Motors’ Swedish brand is putting out its second limited run version of the 9-3 convertible this year. Unlike the somewhat garish Yellow edition that came out during the summer, the new one is more subdued. The latest special edition 9-3 Convertible is meant to celebrate the 25th anniversary of the very first Saab convertible from 1983. The special part comes in a choice of Jet Black, Carbon Grey and the new Bright Champagne. Power comes from the standard Saab 2.0L turbo with 210 hp. The anniversary convertible will magically appear on the show floor at the LA Auto Show next week without a press conference before it goes on sale in January at the “bargain” price of $46,725. The 9-3 is a nice enough car, but with pricing like that it’s no wonder the brand is struggling.

Chicago-based artist Dzine (how I love this pimped out name) had a new show at the Deitch gallery in Long Island City New York on Sunday. Needless to say, the show featured some of the flashiest and shiniest vehicle you can imagine. In fact, you might need a pair of nice sunglasses to protect your eyes from all the bright shine lest you go blind. One of the vehicles that stood out by far was the bright orange motor boat that had all kinds of speakers on it along with two LCD TVs on the back of the boat. If that’s not enough there was a blue bike fit for royalty as it comes with a throne and a regular seat for us commoners. More »

Honda was the first automaker to put a hybrid on the road with the original Insight in December 1999 and it wants to reclaim its place at the big kid’s table with the resurrection of the name on an all-new hybrid. The automaker provides this first official look at the five-door hatch that will be formally unveiled in October at the 2008 Paris auto show. It will technically be a concept, but appears more than production-ready.

Mazda has released sketches of a new concept crossover sport utility vehicle to be unveiled at the 2008 Moscow International Automobile Salon in late August.

The concept vehicle is designed especially for the SUV-hungry Russian market, one of Europe’s fastest growing markets.

The show car, whose name Mazda intends to announce soon, is the latest addition to the automaker’s line of Nagare concept vehicles, which include the Nagare, Ryuga, Hakaze, Taiki and Furai.
