Togo striker Emmanuel Adebayor has accused Arsenal of being in a hurry to sell him off to Manchester City because they needed the money. “When I came back from holiday, I landed on July 13 and my agent told me I was going to speak with the Club. When I did, he told me they had come to an agreement with another Club. It was difficult decision to make. But I went away and thought now is the time for another challenge. It took about a week to post everything out. He didnt really saw why they wanted to sell me, but I found out that they need the money and someone had to leave-that was me,” The Sun hunted Adebayor, as saying.

FIA president Max Mosley insists he is “very close” to an agreement with the FOTA which could stave off the threat of legal action.
The prospect of a breakaway series being set up by the eight teams representing FOTA has accelerated the need for a deal to be agreed, otherwise the sport will be hauled through the courts.
After issuing legal proceedings against Ferrari, McLaren, Renault, BMW Sauber, Toyota, Brawn GP, Red Bull Racing and Toro Rosso on Friday, the FIA were due to formally serve their writ tomorrow.
But after arriving at Silverstone ahead of today’s British Grand Prix with F1 supremo Bernie Ecclestone and Renault team principal Flavio Briatore via helicopter, Mosley spent most of the morning locked in talks with various team personnel.
“We are talking to people all the time. It will all be back to normal, it’s just a question of when,” said Mosley.
“We are very close. What divides us and the teams is minimal and really is something we could sit down and iron out very quickly.
“We have said to them we are ready to do this. Now it may take them a little time to get to the position where they want to, but when they do, we are ready.”
Asked if there was the potential for the writ not being issued, the 69-year-old added: “I think we would rather talk than litigate.”

The fact Mosley and Briatore flew in by air was a surprise in light of Mosley’s demeaning recent reference to the Italian, and others within FOTA, as “loonies.”
Unbecoming of his status as president, Mosley let his guard slip on Friday when he said: “You spend the whole day agreeing something with Red Bull, Brawn, Ferrari and Toyota.
“When they go back to the others, who are what we call the loonies, they tear it up.”
Asked to explain himself, Mosley did not retract his comment.
“The way that came about is we divide the teams into two camps – the moderates who want to talk and a settlement, and what we call the loonies, who appear not to want a settlement,” said Mosley.
“But it’s more of a jokey reference than anything else. I don’t think they are literally loonies, but I think they’re a little bit immoderate in their approach.”

Another figure Mosley would perhaps view as “immoderate” is Ferrari president and FOTA chairman Luca di Montezemolo who has vehemently campaigned against the introduction of a budget cap.
Although claiming to be close to di Montezemolo, Mosley insists he has to draw a line between business and personal relationships.
“Montezemolo and I have known each other nearly 40 years and I get along with him fine on a personal level,” insisted Mosley.
“Flavio is also great on a personal level, but obviously sometimes when you have something as complex as Formula One you can have disagreements about how things operate within the sport.
“But on a personal basis we’ve always got along fine. In fact, I came in this morning in Flavio’s helicopter!”
Pakistan are crowned World Twenty20 champions, Pakistan v Sri Lanka, ICC World Twenty20 final, Lord’s, June 21, 2009
Younis Khan: “It was in my mind before going to the World Cup that if we win it I will retire from Twenty20 cricket”
Younis Khan has said that he had decided even before the World Cup started that he would retire from Twenty20 cricket if Pakistan won the tournament. He also said his statement about Twenty20 cricket being a fun game was part of his plan to ease the pressure off his players.
“It’s not a disaster for Pakistan if we fail to qualify for [the] Super Eight round because this Twenty20 cricket is all about fun, though its an international but it’s all a fun game,” Younis had said at the start of the World Cup. Now, after winning the cup, Younis has revealed that it was part of a well-thought out plan.
“It was in my mind before going to the World Cup that if we win it I will retire from Twenty20 cricket,” Younis told the Pakistan television channel Geo. Younis said he was confident about the success of Pakistan’s campaign. “We felt if we played consistently and played seriously we can win it. I was cool and calm and knew if we played well we can win. I had worked a lot during the series against Australia which affected my performance but I think the way we worked hard it paid [off] in the World Cup. Like all my other countrymen I am also proud to win the World Cup. Like in the last World Cup we came very close to winning it, but we could not.”
Younis said that he chanced upon the ideal playing combination during the Super Eight games. “When we won last match in the Super Eights I knew which combination we have to play with, lots of players like Misbah, myself, Shoaib Malik and even Fawad Alam did not bat in the last few matches as our team clicked at the right time.”
He also said he wanted to give opportunities to youngsters like Shahzaib and Mohammad Aamer so that it would benefit Pakistan in the upcoming Tests and ODIs.

Following Pakistan’s eight-wicket victory over Sri Lanka in the ICC World Twenty20 final at Lord’s, former national captains praised the side as thousands of fans took to the streets across the country. Javed Miandad and Inzamam-ul-Haq paid tribute to the spirit of the side while Ramiz Raja said this win was even better than Pakistan’s World Cup success in 1992.
“We are always slow starters, but once the team started playing as a unit, I knew it would go all the way and lift the World Cup,†said Miandad, director-general of the Pakistan Cricket Board. “It’s a great achievement.â€
Ramiz, like Miandad and Inzamam a part of the 1992 champion squad, rated Sunday’s victory as more important than the one against England in Melbourne 17 years ago. “It’s a major turnaround in a sense that over the last six to eight months whatever has happened in Pakistan it has sent wrong messages,†he said. “Nobody was rating this team, but the way they have made a comeback there’s no example in our sporting history.â€
Inzamam gave the credit to Pakistan’s bowlers, who consistently did well in the tournament and kept it up in the final to keep Sri Lanka to 138. “The bowlers played a vital role in winning the tournament. Umar Gul, Afridi and Saeed Ajmal bowled superbly throughout,†he said. “It’s our second biggest achievement since winning the 1992 World Cup.â€
“â€This victory comes as a morale booster for a nation beset with political and economic problems,†said Imran Khan, under whose captaincy Pakistan lifted the 1992 World Cup.
Meher Mohammad Khalil, the Pakistani driver of the Sri Lankan team bus that came under fire from terrorists in Lahore in March, was one of many fans who watched the final live on a big screen in Lahore. “We desperately needed this victory because there’s so much happening around our country,†he told the new channel Express News. “Sri Lanka is our friend and it will remain our friend, but I wanted Pakistan to win today’s match.â€
Pakistan’s President, Asif Ali Zardari, congratulated the team and announced an award of Rs 1 million (US$12, 300) for captain Younis Khan and Man-of-the-Match Shahid Afridi and Rs 500,000 (US$6,500) for the rest of the squad.
